So, here’s the backstory. Ahab, king of Israel, partners up with Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, to attack a common enemy. Ahab (not a godly guy) is asked by Jehoshaphat (a very godly guy) to seek the counsel of a prophet of the Lord before they follow through with their planned assailment. However, this suggestion is met with resistance because Ahab has concluded that everything the prophet of the Lord has spoken to him is worthless because it has never been favorable from his perspective. In other words, since he hasn’t liked the previous advice, he doesn’t want to seek it out.
