Colossians – The Bible Study Series
What is this Colossians Bible study?
The Colossians Project: four years of studying and writing devotionals from the book of Colossians.
Why do I call this a Colossians Bible study project? Because I decided to dive in. A project gives writing focus. Colossians, a sister book in many ways to Ephesians, doesn’t get the attention it should.
It all started in January 2010 when I was mostly unable to attend the ladies study at Calvary Chapel Seaside, who had chosen that book. I decided that my next blogging project would be writing through the book of Colossians.
These are short devotional posts with questions and scriptures to look up for further thought.
If you ever wanted to study the Book of Colossians, here’s your chance.
Colossians Series: Face to Face
Do you have to know someone face to face and meet at regular intervals for it to be organic? Or can any connection, though any source, be a viable means to develop a relationship in which two souls are connected?
Colossians Series: I Am With You In Spirit
The church at this time is being faced with deception. Paul will begin to attack this threat with the truth. He will remind them of who they are in Christ
Colossians Series: Don’t Be Cheated
When I read the metaphor “rooted and grounded” I think of a plant. The plant starts as a seed, germinates, grows roots, and then it is able to grow tall and branch out.
Colossians Series: The Incomplete is Now Complete
This is simply not the Truth. We are made complete in Him. Our sufficiency is from Him.
Colossians Series: Correcting our Perspective
Perspective. It’s one of the easiest things to lose. Circumstances often overshadow reality and make us myopic.
Colossians Series: The Substance is Christ
In this passage, Paul tells us that all of these feasts and festivals were the shadow but Christ himself is the substance.
Colossians Series: Hold Fast to the Head
And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.
Colossians Series: Self-Imposed Religion
Of course we are told to walk worthy of our salvation, but that is out of our love for Him, not a requirement for salvation.
Colossians Series: Your Life is Hidden With Christ
Instead of thinking about this earth, think about the “things above.” What’s “above?” That’s Christ. He’s the one in the Heaven.
Colossians Series: Don’t Be Put Off – Put it Off
Knowing that our minds should be set on the things of Heaven where Christ is, Paul encourages the believers to put off the former things
